Sales opportunity (deal)
A deal (or sales opportunity) is a specific expected sale in a CRM: to whom, what, for how much, and where it stands now.

What does Sales opportunity mean?
A customer and a deal are not the same thing: one customer can have several deals at once (a new order, an extension), and each sits in its own stage of the sales pipeline.
A deal usually has a value, an owner, an expected close date and a stage. In the end it is won or lost, and the reason for losing it later says a great deal about the quotes.
Why does it matter to a small business?
When sales exist only in emails and phone calls, nobody can say how much work is in progress or which quote has got stuck. Keeping deals as records of their own shows how much money is expected, who has the ball, and which quote needs chasing today before the customer orders elsewhere.
What does it look like in practice?
Details
Suppose a print shop in Budapest has two deals running with a regular customer: a HUF 300,000 flyer order at the "quote sent" stage and a HUF 1,200,000 catalogue at "needs assessment". The flyers are won, the catalogue is lost on price, and that reason stays recorded.
How does HelloTeam CRM handle it?

HelloTeam's free Deals module shows deals on a board; you drag them between stages, and there can be several pipelines with their own stages and fields. Stage probabilities give a weighted forecast, and the reports show stalled deals.
